Omar has technically been in the industry since 2010, but jokes he “came out of the womb doing AV”. Growing up, his dad took him to ballroom set-ups or brought him swag when he couldn’t tag along.
Even when he was little, Omar knew he wanted to be a Video Engineer. He committed to learning everything he could about each position in the live events industry because he thought that was what a video engineer had to do.
Omar has loaded trucks, ran shows, did switching, projection, LED, camera operating, shading, and Media Servers.
Being part of “Generation AV,” he understands all the products and positions needed to create a great event. His military background makes him a thoughtful and detailed teacher for the academy.
When he works events, you can find him at video village, or learning what he can from stagehands.
If he’s not working he’s reading, going to the gym, or running his non-profit. He also loves to show his daughter the places he’s done events at, like his dad did with him.
